2008

This is the last day of school for the year ending 2008. It has been a year of much fun and laughter, of course lots of work too.

The highlight of the year as usual is the concert cum graduation which we believe reached its high note this year. To all the parents of graduating children, we hope your children have benefited much from our programme and they will 'survive' the real school work.

To parents of children still pursuing their educational journey at Tunas Suria, we hope next year will be loads of fun and laughter too, not forgetting hard work.

Till 2009, happy holidays to everyone.

Pantun Dikir Barat Tunas Suria

Cuti sekolah melawat Melaka,
Balik kampong naik bas ekspress,
Di Tunas Suria molek belaka,
Balik rumah, baru tunjuk stress.

Semalam pergi ke Bukit Sagil,
Jumpa pula budak nama Yati,
Aunty Zara nama dipanggil,
Orangnya lembut dan murah hati.

Nasi lemak sambalnya pedas,
Makan pula bawah pokok ceri,
Orangnya penyayang tapi tegas,
Itulah Mak Chor nama diberi.

Kalau bergaya serah kat dia,
Sekali tengok macam artis Hindi,
Nak tau siapakah dia,
Itu lah guru Inggeris kami.

Di Kelana Jaya waktu petang,
Tengok atuk nak pergi haji,
Dulu suara bukan main lantang,
Sekarang pula apa dah jadi.

Mari kita bersuka ria,
Lepas itu pergi petik bunga,
Prinsipal kami di Tunas Suria,
Masih belum ada yang punya.

DIKIR BARAT TUNAS SURIA

Dikir Barat, a cultural performance which originates from Kelantan is the highlight of our concert this year. It is amazing what the children managed to learn in a month what we probably would take months to master. With much effort from Aunty Val and Aunty Nor's creativity (she did the 'pantun' while she was on medical leave), we came up with our own rendition of DIKIR BARAT TUNAS SURIA.

This is just a part of it ...

THANK YOU

Dear parents

Thank you for your strong support and cooperation in this year's concert. Your active participation is greatly appreciated and we look forward to more joyful concerts in years to come. We welcome ideas and parents involvement in organising the concert.

For those who helped this year, thank you so much.

The concert would not be a success without your children's effort and you will find that your children have so much talent than you can ever imagine.

Let's work towards making our children's life more interesting and enjoyable, let's nurture their talents and watch them grow to be confident and independent individuals.

We will put together photos and cd's of the concert and inform you accordingly. In the meantime, a sneak into what took place.

Once again - thank you so much - great job parents.

Birthday Month

Hi Parents

Welcome back from the holidays! It sure was a long one for Tunas Suria and I am sure some of you do have a hard time getting the kids to get back to school routine.

This is a birthday month. There are about 10 kids who have their birthdays this month. If theres a party for each one, wow that's a lot of sugar for the kids. Let's hope parents will give healthy party favours.

Areefa, Adam and Nadrah are 6 this month.

We are born in October!

Nicholas will be 3, Aleesya and Qasdina will be 4.

Ikmal and Azzim will be 5, and so also Sarah.

Dear Parents

Here we are celebrating days before Hari Raya. We been singing hari raya songs to get in the 'mood'.

We also celebrated Hazim's second birthday and here's a picture to commemorate it.

We take this opportunity to wish all Muslim parents "Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri - Maaf Zahir Batin" and happy holidays to the others.

Merdeka 2008

Today we celebrate Malaysia's 51st National Day.

The children were in their best national costumes, namely baju melayu and baju kurung. It doesn't matter what they wear, they will always look cute. We sang several patriotic songs and when they chanted Merdeka, it was like being at the Padang on thee day itself. Such enthusiasm and spirit.

Puppet Show

It was the day after the Chocolate factory visit, kids are still in a holiday mood especially some SK children who are still having another one week official holiday and Aunty Val brought puppets from the fairy tale " The Emperor's New Clothes". I managed to take some video clippings of the puppet show which the children - SK children and a few 5/6 year olds managed to put up with just about 2 hours of practice! Hooray for Aunty Val.

Enjoy the video. If you want to see the rest, let me have your thumb drive.

Another party

Danish Hakeemi had a party today to celebrate his 4th birthday and guess what, big sister Areefa wants to cut a cake as well thus making a joint celebration and the cake was wonderfully done by the baker who delivered it personally, Puan Zahida from Ninerecipes (check out Cakes Galore).
Speaking of parties, would appreciate if parents can consider 'healthy' stuff for the party packs as I do get requests to have items removed, which sometimes we cannot manage without 'offending' the wrapping.
